About 2 Player Checkers

2 Player Checkers does one thing: it gets a game of checkers going fast. Two people, one screen, no signup form standing between you and the first move.

What this site is

We built it for the moment when someone says "want to play checkers?" and nobody owns a board. Open the site, tap New Game, and play. You can share a device with the person next to you or take on the computer at three difficulty levels. Both classic checkers and International Checkers on the 10×10 board are here, and both work offline once the page has loaded.

Who runs it

2 Player Checkers is part of the Checkers Online family of sites. The same small team behind Checkers Online, where you can play eleven checkers variants against live opponents, runs this one. This site handles the same-room games; the main site handles the internet ones.

How the games work

Everything runs in your browser. There's no server watching your moves and no account tracking your history. The computer opponent is a minimax search with alpha-beta pruning, which is a standard game-playing algorithm that tries moves, scores the resulting positions, and skips lines it can prove are worse. It runs in a background worker so the page never freezes while it thinks.
