Privacy Policy

2 Player Checkers ("we", "us") is a free browser checkers site. The short version of this policy: we never ask who you are, your games stay on your device, and the only data we collect is anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics.

No accounts, no personal details

There is nothing to sign up for. We don't ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information, and there's no way to enter it anywhere on the site. Your moves are computed in your browser and never sent to a server.

What's stored on your device

The site uses your browser's localStorage (a small storage area websites can use on your own device) to save two things: your game in progress, so you can close the tab and pick the game back up later, and your win-loss record against the computer at each difficulty. This data never leaves your device and we can't see it. Clearing your browser's site data erases it.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see how the site is used in aggregate: which pages get visited, what kinds of devices people play on, whether games are started against the computer or in two-player mode, and how often visitors click through to our sister site, Checkers Online. Google Analytics sets cookies and records information such as approximate location (city level), browser, and pages viewed. We see this only as totals and trends, not as individual people.

To opt out, install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies for this site in your browser. The games work exactly the same either way.

Cookies

The only cookies on this site are the Google Analytics ones described above. We don't run ads and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Blocking or deleting cookies won't break the games.

Children

This is a general-audience game site and isn't directed at children under 13. Since we don't collect personal information from anyone, we don't knowingly collect it from children either.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. There's no mailing list to notify because we don't have your email, which is rather the point.
